Writing challenge for
worldofscribble.
Challenge B: Write for five minutes, and include the words havoc and underground in your piece.
It all started because my brother was trying to impress the girl who had just moved in next door, Jane.
"There's this old mine shaft outside of town we should go look at."
"Yeah?" she asked, sounding only vaguely interested.
"Yeah," he enthused, doing his best to pull her in with his pretend enthusiasm, "if you've never been underground before, it'll be totally awesome."
She reluctantly agreed, and eager to see him crash and burn, I tagged along with them.
The mine shaft was on old man Chaffer's property, and as long as you were reasonably quiet, his two German Shepherds wouldn't come racing at you across the open farm fields. It would've been even easier had there been any decent cover, like corn or something else tall, but he hadn't grown anything in that part of the farm for years.
All the sneaking about excited Jane though, and I thought my brother might actually have a chance of stealing a kiss later, at least if I gave them any sort of privacy. So, I did my best to stick on them like glue.
If I had actually done that, everything would've probably been all right, but I got distracted, and then decided to sneak up on them and scare Jane.
When I jumped out at them, waving my arms, Jane screamed, and even my brother yelled. It was a very satisfying result, until the rumbling sound, and falling rocks, and all the havoc that followed began.

Oh hey! Written Kitten. I wonder if I can set it for five minutes? I will totally notice if the cat changes. Hmmm....
Yeah, it's a pretty lazy one, really. But it seems to have started working again now; I can hear it, and it's a bit cooler up here now. *smile*
