Thank you! I decided from the outset that John wouldn't abandon Michaela, but I wanted the temptation to be there, and for it to feel plausible to the reader. So, up until the back wall of the arbor disappeared, I was setting the stage for that one decision. :) Hopefully it wasn't too overdone.
Hahaha, myself, I've never played around with cassette tapes like that. Well, the taking apart, yes, but not so much on the putting back together.
